Who doesn’t love a Hot Tub! Sitting alongside the Pacific Ocean but up far enough to enjoy its untamed beauty, the 10-seater, solar-assisted hot tub is further warmed to your liking with firewood. Slip into swimsuits and descend the stairway for the unique experience of soaking in our fire-heated pool and listening to the ocean waves crashing onshore. While you relax and unwind from the day’s adventures, visit with friends and family under the star-studded sky before retiring to the lodge for the evening. For your convenience, Kimonos and crocs are provided for all our guests.

In previous years we’ve had our bonfires on the other end of the island by the dock. In 2023 our Fire Pit area was moved to Rock Beach just down the stairs from the Lodge. Complete with granite pathway, level sitting area and a smokeless Bonfire, our new Fire Pit is a great place to relax, enjoy the ocean, Malei Sunsets and visit with friends and family. As a bonfire snack, an Australian treat known as “Damper on a Stick” will be available for guests to roast over the fire and fill with our homemade raspberry or rhubarb/ginger jam.

After the approximately one-hour ocean trip the water taxi will navigate to our dock in the harbour for guests to disembark. This quiet harbour is a great place to relax. Our hand-crafted rest area beside the dock is the perfect place to stretch out with a book and cup of coffee. When it is time for your departure, recline on the cedar bench while waiting for the water taxi to take you back to Port Hardy.

When you are finished exploring the island, relax on the front deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean and you may catch glimpses of the marine wildlife that call the Pacific their home.

After a day exploring the island, visit with friends and family in our spacious indoor lounge. There are many couches and sitting areas for your use or pull up a chair by the toasty warm wood stove. On a clear sunny day draw over the telescope to the large picture windows and view the ocean wildlife through its lens.

Grab a book and head out to the sitting area beside the helicopter landing pad along the harbour. The view is so stunning you may find yourself getting lost in its beauty and completely forgetting the book in your lap.
