OPTION 1 - Ferry, Car, Water Taxi
Ferry to Vancouver Island
BC Ferries have two main ports from the Mainland to Vancouver Island.
TSAWWASSEN TERMINAL
Route Schedule
- Ferry - 1 hr. 35 min. Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay
- Car - 6 hr. Swartz Bay to Port Hardy
HORSESHOE BAY TERMINAL
Route Schedule
- Ferry - 1 hr. 40 min. Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay
- Car - 4 hr. Departure Bay to Port Hardy.

Drive to Port Hardy
Directions to Port Hardy, Cape Scott Water Taxi
- North on BC-19
(signs to Campbell RIver). - Continue straight through Campbell River on the BC-19.
(signs to Port Hardy) - Turn Right onto Hardy Bay Rd.
- Turn Right into Cape Scott Water Taxi (beside Quarter Deck Inn)
Water Taxi to Malei Island
Ride the ocean waves on the locally owned “Sea Legend 1”. Cape Scott Water Taxi's are guided by ticketed captains who have years of coastal waters knowledge. One-hour trip from Port Hardy Marina to Malei Island Resort.
Prebooked parking is available for $35 at the QuarterDeck Resort & Marina (not included).
Ride to Lodge
Upon your arrival at the resort, a solar-powered vehicle, driven by our resort hosts, will transport you and your luggage to the lodge.
OPTION 2 - by Air
Fly to Port Hardy
Alongside the Vancouver International Airport is the Pacific Coastal Airlines airport. This small airport uses Beechcraft 1900's to transport its passengers from Vancouver to Port Hardy, BC (the northeastern tip of Vancouver Island). Pacific Coast Airlines
Taxi to Helicopter
From Port Hardy airport take a taxi to Cape Scott Water Taxi, or in you have arranged a helicopter flight to Malei Island take a taxi to Port McNeill Airport. Waivin Flags Taxi

Take a 15 minute Helicopter Ride to Malei Island Resort operated by West Coast Helicopters.
